Mont Chabrière (2,400 m)

From Refuge Levi Molinari
Between the heavens and the earth.
The well-marked path (the first part of which follows the markers along the scenic overlook) starts just behind the refuge, first passing through a small larch forest and then continuing to the left with a series of bends at the edge of a rocky bastion at the tip of which you can clearly see the "Croce del Finanziere" (in memory of a border guard who lost his life there). Continuing along the trail, which becomes more gently sloping. The route crosses meadows and then scree to reach Clot delle Selle. From here, following the signs, continue left along the scree towards the slope leading to Colletto Chabrière. Once you have reached the highest point, leave the tracks leading down the opposite slope and continue to the left along the ridge. You'll find remains of military buildings and evidence of trenches, as well as a cross at the foot of which a summit book provides an opportunity to share your experience and leave your signature. Looking out towards Susa Valley, you will see the military ruins of Casses Blanche on the right, which can be reached by following a path halfway up the slope from the summit of Chabrière.

"Descent: Descent: follow the same route as on the way up, or complete a loop that passes through Granges Soutul and leads to Granges Selle Marre (located along the access road to Granges della Valle). To do this, you need to return along the military route which, in a series of turns, leads to a stream (sometimes dry, do not use it for the descent) and follow a marked red-painted path which crosses halfway up the slope and descends through the woods.
After arriving at the chalets, join the main road, then Granges della Valle and before long you'll reach the refuge."

This is certainly one of the most relaxing trails in the Conca Galambra. A great choice for families and for those who want to discover the mountains to enjoy stunning views, without long hours of walking. In addition, you may even spot chamois, deer, roe deer along the way, and, on occasion, even wolves.
