The Refuge de Terre Rouge highlight!
From the refuge, head towards Les Barmettes, skirting the muddy bog.
Join the path on the left bank of the Neuvache then follow the path up to the lake. There are several lakes in the area including Lac Rond and Lac Cornu below.
From Lac Cornu, follow the contours of the valley floor for around 40 minutes, then climb 150 m to Lac des Glaciers (2,663 m) at the foot of Col de Valmeinier. Then join the Mont Thabor path via Les Casses (150 m).
Take this path northwards, passing Pierre du Déjeuner, then follow the path to the right as far as Grand Lac (2,508 m).
Return to the refuge along the path that runs alongside the Grandes Culées stream.
