The Chalet della Guida highlight!
From the chalet, turn left, pass the fountain and then right (heading north). Follow the mule track to Pas de Roccia Verde (also known as Col du Vallon).
At an altitude of 1,915 m, the path bears left (heading west), past some ruins and, after a gentle climb, reaches the edge of the gorge of Río Vallone. Here it begins to climb gently again, winding through rock (with a chain for a handrail), over steep meadows to enter "Vallone". Pass by Granges du "Vallone" (2,397 m), the LXX military remains (2,800 m approx.) and join Pas de Roccia Verde (2,818 m).
Make your descent by the same route.
From the pass, you have the option to go down to Bardonecchia (1,312 m), a 4-hour walk.
From Bardonecchia, you can return to Rochemolles by public shuttle bus (from June to September) or, when this service is no longer available, by shuttle bus from Chalet della Guida.
This hike has a significant change in altitude, but on the way up there is a splendid, open panorama. Once you reach the pass, you'll be treated to a wonderful view of the Écrins massif.
