The Refuge Buffère highlight!
Setting off from the refuge, follow the Côte Rouge path with a scenic overlook to the Lacs de Cristol, named after the abundance of blueberries and rhododendrons. Make your way back along Crête de l'Echaillon which offers wonderful views of the Ecrins Mountains and Briançon basin, before heading down through the Buffère mountain pastures, where signs of farming and shepherding can still be seen.
To round off the tour in style, the Grand Aréa provides a strategic 360° viewpoint over the Ecrins, Aiguilles d'Arves, Queyras and Mont Blanc.
