From the car park in Névache, Ville Haute, on off-piste skis or snowshoes, follow the summer road towards Haute Vallée de la Clarée for 5 km. Once you reach the hamlet of Foncouverte, bear right just before the bridge that crosses the river. A 45-minute climb will take you to the refuge in the hamlet of Ricou, the last of the chalets.
Important: Never use the summer route running along the right bank of the river Clarée between Ville Haute and Pont du Rately, as there is a strong risk of avalanches.
