From the top of the village of Valfréjus (1,600 m ), there is a rod leading to Lavoir (1,923 m). Turn right to the combe (heading south-west). Continue towards Col de la Vallée Étroite following the right bank of the valley. Pass by the chalets of La Replanette (2,282 m) and climb to Col de la Vallée Etroite (2,434 m). To the west of Col de la Vallée Etroite, at 2,502 m, you'll find Refuge du Mont Thabor, where you can take a break.
From the pass, follow the GR5-GR57 towards Granges de la Vallée Etroite, and head back down through the beautiful alpine pastures of Vallon des Tavernettes to Pont de la Fonderie (1,897 m). From La Fonderie, follow the road back to Granges de la Vallée Etroite (1,760 m), and you'll reach the two refuges.
