Ascent:
From Les Granges de la Vallée Etroite (1,760 m), head up the valley until you reach the stream of La Vallée Etroite and the Pont de la Fonderie (1,897 m). After Pont de la Fonderie, climb the slightly steeper slopes heading west. At Clôt Solide (2,200 m), follow the lovely valley to the left, heading south, which climbs nicely as it narrows and leads to Col du Vallon (2,645 m).
Descent: Via the same route.
For more advanced skiers, there is the option of summiting Pic du Lac Blanc (2,980 m) from Col du Vallon (2,645 m) - a gradient of 320 m - and returning by the same route, or alternatively crossing over to Vallée de la Clarée to reach Refuge Ricou (2,115 m) and Refuge Laval (2,010 m) or the village of Névache via the chalets of Vallon.
