From Granges de la Vallée Etroite (1,760 m), take the track that climbs alongside Refuge Terzo Alpini (1,780 m). Cross the Combe de la Miglia stream and continue along the lovely shady path that winds through the forest. At the end of the wood, enjoy the stunning views of Vallée Etroite and its wealth of mountain ranges to the north and north-west. Col des Thures (2,194 m) is on the banks of Lac Chavillon, which is why it is also known as Lac des Thures. The path, which continues to be very scenic, leads back down to the village of Névache, or carries on towards the Aiguille Rouge (2,545 m).
